Michaels Jewelers, the Westfield, Mass., chain is returning to Avon after a seven-year absence, opening a retail center with what it describes as “rare” previously owned jewelry.
Deanna Steiner, marketing director for the family owned-chain, said Michaels Jewelers last had a store in Avon in 2020. Its new estate-sale focused location, which is scheduled to open this weekend, is at 25 Climax Road in the Avon Village Center shopping complex.
Steiner said that estate sale of jewelry items that the chain has purchased represents about 17% of Michaels’ total sales.
Estate jewelry is defined as previously owned items that range from modern pieces to vintage and antique items.
“We have some rare, unique items,” Steiner said. “These kind of items have always been popular. They are the kind of pre-owned items that people don’t mind buying.”
Michaels has 10 stores in Connecticut as well as buying centers in Windsor Locks and Cromwell in addition to the estate sale location that is opening in Avon.
